New Chevy Volt

The new 2013 Chevy volt from G.M.

It operates as an electric car for the first 40 miles after a full charge and then switches over to gas to extend its distance. It draws energy from the lithium ion battery pack. When the battery runs out, the 1.4 liter engine starts to power the generator and sustains the battery charge to give the car 260 more miles of range. The engine doesn’t drive the wheels; it only powers a generator that will give the battery enough charge to go another 300 miles. That only happens when the battery is exhausted.

Overall the Ford Volt is a big step for G.M., Its performance and efficiency for an electric vehicle sets it ahead. They have succeeded in producing and redefining the “green” car category.
